Igidae Park

The air was full of the scent of sea. My heart was beating faster under the bright sunlight. I can feel again the wind of my face and the sound of the sea coming up to me from the shore below.

Sense and Sensibility

If you’re falling in love with someone, is it better to express your feeling passionately? If you show a calm face and a quiet voice, does it mean there is no passion in your heart? 'Sense and Sensibility' is the title of Jane Austin’s book, which shows two aspects of personality. The main characters are the Dashwood girls, Elinor and Marianne, who have contrastive personalities. Elinor, on the side of sense, thinks about every decision she's going to make before she acts upon it. She has a crush on Edward, but she studies the situation instead of showing her feelings for him. Moreover, she places her family’s welfare above her own. She tries to hide her suffering, when she learns that Edward is engaged secretly to Lucy, because she doesn’t want to give any anxiety to her family. On the other hand, Marianne, on the side of sensibility, doesn't hesitate to follow her emotions without thinking of the consequences. She expresses her love passionately to the handsome but mean Willoughby, even though Brandon is the better match. Furthermore, Marianne chooses to relieve herself of some of the burden by allowing her family to help her. When Willoughby leaves her suddenly, because of an affair with a rich girl, she also expresses her deep sadness and frustration. As I mentioned above, Elinor and Marianne are contrasting characters. There isn’t a question in the book as to which personality is more valuable. However, there is no proper sensibility without sense.

Why we have too few women leaders

Sheryl Sandberg: Why we have too few women leaders
"I have two children. I want my son to have a choice to contribute fully in the workforce or at home. And I want my daughter to have the choice to not just succeed, but to be liked for her accomplishments."
Her conclusion is quite interesting.

A whisper of spring

The sun shone in a clear sky, and the sunlight danced over the golden field, leaving blue shadow under the trees. It all seemed so comfotable and so peaceful. The deep, silent happiness inside me.
