Busan Museum

Question: What three things in the museum do you think would be most interesting for foreigners to learn about? Why do you think so?

1. My guesses
1) The living culture gallery
They can see how the ancient citizens of Busan lived and how the culture developed. Each village has its own traditional dress, cuisine, and handicrafts so they can also compare to theirs.
2) The anti-Japanese movement
They can understand why Koreans are crazy about the soccer game between Korea and Japan.
3) The modernization of Busan
They can predict the future of Busan.

2. The result of the interview with a "Real American"
1) The maps on geographic information
2) The statistic on historical facts
3) The modern history
4) The signal fire

3. The conclusion of the interview :
25 percentage answered the question correctly.

The correct answer probably is that it depends on the person... :)

Turkish restaurant

The soft afternoon at Turkish restaurant is still close to me. I can hear my friends' laugh. How much nicer people looked when they smiled!!

Thank you for sharing the beautiful pictures, young forever Young :)

Igidae Park

The air was full of the scent of sea. My heart was beating faster under the bright sunlight. I can feel again the wind of my face and the sound of the sea coming up to me from the shore below.

Sense and Sensibility

If you’re falling in love with someone, is it better to express your feeling passionately? If you show a calm face and a quiet voice, does it mean there is no passion in your heart? 'Sense and Sensibility' is the title of Jane Austin’s book, which shows two aspects of personality. The main characters are the Dashwood girls, Elinor and Marianne, who have contrastive personalities. Elinor, on the side of sense, thinks about every decision she's going to make before she acts upon it. She has a crush on Edward, but she studies the situation instead of showing her feelings for him. Moreover, she places her family’s welfare above her own. She tries to hide her suffering, when she learns that Edward is engaged secretly to Lucy, because she doesn’t want to give any anxiety to her family. On the other hand, Marianne, on the side of sensibility, doesn't hesitate to follow her emotions without thinking of the consequences. She expresses her love passionately to the handsome but mean Willoughby, even though Brandon is the better match. Furthermore, Marianne chooses to relieve herself of some of the burden by allowing her family to help her. When Willoughby leaves her suddenly, because of an affair with a rich girl, she also expresses her deep sadness and frustration. As I mentioned above, Elinor and Marianne are contrasting characters. There isn’t a question in the book as to which personality is more valuable. However, there is no proper sensibility without sense.

Why we have too few women leaders

Sheryl Sandberg: Why we have too few women leaders
"I have two children. I want my son to have a choice to contribute fully in the workforce or at home. And I want my daughter to have the choice to not just succeed, but to be liked for her accomplishments."
Her conclusion is quite interesting.

A whisper of spring

The sun shone in a clear sky, and the sunlight danced over the golden field, leaving blue shadow under the trees. It all seemed so comfotable and so peaceful. The deep, silent happiness inside me.

U.N. Cemetery

We visited U.N. Cemetery for our outdoor activity on April 19th. He is, who is in middle of the picture, Leo Demay. I read his story in the newspaper a couple years ago. His biological father participated in Korean war in his twenties and passed away, unfortunately. And Leo decided his mind to move to Korea to commemorate his father by staying beside his father. It was the warmhearted article and that's way he has been here as a guide. I really thanked to all of men who participated in Korean war and wanted to protect freedom.

My son's birthday party

We had my son's three years birthday party last October at his preschool.
I prepared specially a "Pororo ricecake" for a present. Pororo is one of the most popular characters in animation. It made all kids happy and I heard that every kids wanted to eat a part of Pororo's face. Hum...

p.s. I learned how to upload video clips. It's more easier than I expected.
THANK YOU, JEFF!

My experience using computer based activities

I learned today how to create computer based activities for students by using Hot Potatoes. I made some simple crossword, JCloze and JQuiz for exercise. It was awesome, and I can even print it I made as handouts! If we can not access to computers in the classroom, it would be helpful. Moreover, it will be convenient  to prepare worksheets and review some vocabulary in the class and students will enjoy these tasks. Thank you, Jeff :)

pronunciation clinic/week1

The most difficult pronunciation to me is the /w/sound with two vowel sounds blend together in a word such as wool, wood and would. I'd like to know the shape of mouth. I find the /l/, /r/sounds are also inaccurate if I don't pay attention. My goal is to practice more to pronounce naturally, then listeners will able to understand what I say.

The first day of CALL

I was a little nervous to use a computer at the beginning of the class, because I don't have computer skills. I usually surf the internet for looking information, but I created a gmail account and a google  blog today. I became to have another house! If I finish this course, I would be good at using computers. I hope so :)
